Just come with me!
I hear the Lord saying, “I will stay close to you, instructing and guiding you along the pathway for your life.
I will advise you along the way and lead you forth with my eyes as your guide.
So don’t make it difficult; don’t be stubborn when I take you where you’ve not been before.
Don’t make me tug you and pull you along.
Just come with me!”
(Psalm 32:8-9)
Psalm 32 was written together with Psalm 51 ( … create in me a clean heart…) by David in the time of Bathsheba… probably one of David’s bigger stuff-ups.
Now… in no way can I or will I condone what David has done or use it as an excuse. Just reading those two psalms you will see how much anguish he was in because of his mistake.
But the Grace of God is extreme! He never stopped loving David, and never stopped pushing him towards repentance. And the consequences did not just go away either… However, God is love, He is grace, and He is a Father that always reaches out to His children!
And so… out of this union between Bathsheba and David, was born Solomon, out of whose lineage was born Jesus. (Matthew 1:7)
There is no stuff-up in the world big enough that God would just turn His back. Or turn the experience into good… even if it takes some time.
