At church, the Pastors are working their way through Second Timothy, and they did a good job. Expounding the word, explaining the context and connecting all the right dots, but I couldn’t help but see a different reminder in the text of 2 Timothy 2, triggered by this verse:
“Carefully consider all that I’ve taught you, and may our Lord inspire you with wisdom and revelation in everything you say and do.
(2 Timothy 2:7 TPT)
It made me go back and read it again, looking from another side… (and forgive me for using the word out of context to understand a different truth…)
Paul tells Timothy to copy him in 5 things:
Be a Teacher
Fight like a Soldier
Stay Faithful and Persevere like an Athlete
Care like a Farmer
Focus on Christ
…is this not my job as a spouse and a parent?
To teach my children and deposit everything I know about God our Father in them?
To fight for the Integrity of my household and defend against the attacks that will come against us?
To persevere in Faithfulness like an athlete, honestly competing and destined to make it to the end of the race? Not quitting on my integrity. Not quitting on my family. Never giving up on lifting them up to God…?
And then, like a farmer, carefully raising his crops & animals, I must be caring for my family, protecting them, shielding them and giving them a safe space to grow and become prepared for the world.
Lastly…
“…But make Jesus, the Anointed One, your focus in life and ministry…”
(2 Timothy 2:8 TPT)
And how can I do it?
Through a life empowered by God’s Grace!
“…live your life empowered by God’s free-flowing Grace, which is your true strength, found in the anointing of Jesus and your union with him!”
(2 Timothy 2:1 TPT)
so…
Carefully consider all that I’ve taught you, and may our Lord inspire you with wisdom and revelation in everything you say and do.”
(2 Timothy 2:7 TPT)
Be absolutely blessed this week!
