You might have heard the story before. Jesus was hungry and as he left the town of Bethany, he saw a beautiful leafy fig tree in the distance.
Coming up to it… many green leaves, no fruit. And Jesus cursed that tree, saying “no one will ever eat fruit from you again!”

Playing with this story in my head. I am asking myself… Am I like this fig tree? Do I have beautiful leaves that make me look good from a distance? But my fruit is not there?
Are my “good deed” leaves, hiding what’s underneath?
Luckily, God never gives up on us…
”But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. Turn to me and have mercy on me; show your strength in behalf of your servant; save me…“
