Quick backstory…
Yesterday in Church, we discussed the Arrest of Peter and John (not for brawling or inciting violence, but for teaching that Jesus Christ rose from the dead… oh, and they healed a guy)
Sat a night in jail and then was questioned by the High Priest’s family, the Jewish leaders, the scholars, the High Priest himself, etc, etc… surrounded by the temple police and I am sure the Roman guard also made an appearance at the “disturbance” – Rather an intimidating crowd from the look of it.
Imagine the scene… and put yourself in their sandals.
I wouldn’t like it. I wouldn’t like it one bit.
But the Bible says:
“The council members were astonished as they witnessed the bold courage of Peter and John, especially when they discovered that they were just ordinary men who had never had religious training. Then they began to understand the effect Jesus had on them simply by spending time with him”
(Acts 4:13 TPT)
Then they began to understand the effect Jesus had on them simply by spending time with him…
Just by spending time with Jesus. Just by spending time.
I can’t think of one recipe the Disciples needed to memorise… There was no, “one part spit, two parts dirt, rub on eyes in counter-clockwise direction if before noonday call. Healing should occur within minutes, otherwise, add more faith…”
I don’t think Jesus even scolded them for thinking about food the whole time… they were just present.
It completely dominated my thoughts… How much time am I spending with Jesus? How much is Jesus part of my decision-making process? My day-to-day planning, my everyday living.
Spend time with Jesus today. Make Him part of the conversation in your head. Let Him saturate your life…. and then…
Be a blessing in someone’s life today!
