What was His words again?

A boat caught in a storm with the words of Luke 8:24

It helps to remember God’s words to you…

“One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and set out. As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger.
The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!”
(Luke 8:22-24)

The Disciples were in a panic, and Jesus actually rebuked the waters and the storm, asking His disciples “Where is your Faith? (v25)

On the surface, it looks like a Faith teaching… but actually, this is a teaching about listening…

I’ll make it sound intelectual… just for the look of the thing:

“Dierchomai eis ho peran” (διέλθωμεν εἰς τὸ πέραν)

Literal Breakdown

  • Dierchomai: To go through, pass through, or travel through.
  • Eis: Into/To.
  • Ho/To: The (definite article).
  • Peran: Beyond, other side, or across

But it is actually really simple… At this point in time, the whole region already knew about Jesus and the miracles that happened when He was around.

But unlike me, that prromises my children, “we will do it this weekend”, and then never get to it, when God speaks, planets and stars take shape. His words are commited.

Jesus said: Let us cross over to the other side. And that was all it was supposed to be. The other side will be reached, regardless of seas and storms and calamity and interference and setbacks and the wind and rain and sleet in your face.

Lightning and thunder can rage around your little boat with 12-foot swells and white topped and angry waves…

Jesus said: LET… US…. GO… TO… THE… OTHER… SIDE…

The other side will be reached… and that is the end of it.

It is the word of God. The End.

So when things goes pear shaped and the storms rise up against me… all I need to do is to remember what God called me for. The storm I am facing now… just noise to distract.

Be blessed and be a blessing to all around you!
