So as I walked, deep in thought, up to my office doors. I took out my car key remote and pressed the button for the doors to open.
Nothing happened.
My mind said… Stupid decaf coffee… you pressed the wrong button!
So my finger shifted and I pressed the other button. Still nothing
At which point a part of my brain was trying to wave a flag or something to get my attention.
So as I look at my key, I have an epiphany: Car keys do not unlock office doors!
I think the only thing that makes it worse is that the doors are automagical. You come close and they open… by themselves!
”Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

No amount of wrong keys will open the door, and there is only one way to God’s throneroom.
But there is another thing at work here. Trying to earn salvation. It is impossible. Sure… you can try, but you will never “get there” because… it’s impossible. Not difficult… Impossible! And in the end you will be tired and convinced God doesn’t care for you or worse, God doesn’t exist…
Because in all this time, while you are trying to earn your salvation through good works and bible study and church and life groups and prayer meetings. All that happens is that you learn about God, you Pray at God and you argue over God… but there is no relationship with God.
And that, is a shame, because literally…
