Have you gotten stuck where you are not supposed to be?
Are you asking yourself … “How did I end up here… again!?”
Do you feel that you may have lost God along the way, or just don’t feel Him anymore, not hear His voice, and you have this intense longing inside of yourself?
This may sound like a cliché, but Jesus kinda gives advice on this with a little sideways nod & a wink.
Ever thought you are a bad parent? Don’t worry, Joseph and Mary lost the SON OF GOD!_ for three days!!
(and we are so glad they did, because it gives us this amazing piece in the bible!)
In Luke chapter 2, we pick up this nugget that only Luke shares. Quickly think about this. The emotions those parents were going through? And then they found him, and Jesus very nonchalantly says:
“Why were you searching for me?” he asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?”
(Luke 2:49 NIV)
Sooo… I wonder if this jumped out to you as it did to me?
When Jesus says “Why were you searching for me?” – My mind’s eye went to all the things that people do in search of peace, and meaning, and spirituality… just looking for a reason, something that says their life is worth something!
Joseph and Mary was… (just like us sometimes), literally looking for God in all the wrong places!
Like a guy jumped out and whacked me with a pan in the face, this just blew me over!
If you know Jesus, and you know you are not where you are supposed to be, and you are doing things you are not supposed to be doing, and you are trying to fill that gap in your soul with everything else… then follow Jesus’s suggestion:
Go… to… Church.
That is where you will start to fill that gap! You will find Truth, you will find Worship, you will find Support and Community and… accountability.
Looking for Jesus? Try the church… odds are more than good that you will indeed find Him there…
