Romans is an awesome letter to read. It is the Gospel in one go!
Pretty much every major Gospel theme is handled somewhere in this letter, and as you read it… one of the attributes of God becomes blindingly obvious:
God does not change
Through my favourite Italian Prophet, Malaachie 😉 God said it pretty much as bluntly and straightforward as he could:
“I the LORD do not change.”(Malachi 3:6 NIV)
What does this mean for me?
God is Dependable.
His Plans for my life do not change.
His Love for me, does not change.
His Promises to me… does. not. change.
I am struggling to fathom the immensity of this single point…
There is not a thing in this universe that can grab me from God’s hand.
Even bigger… There is not a thing that can separate me, cleave me or cut me loose from God’s Love for me.
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Question: What is that thing that drives your spouse or girlfriend/boyfriend absolutely spitting mad, nuts?!
Is it not putting the toothpaste cap back on the tube? not taking out the rubbish, leaving clothes on the floor?
Now think about that thing 100x worse… then times a thousand. It is still not enough to convince God the Father to give up on you, or Jesus Christ that you were not worth dying for!
“So now I live with the confidence that there is nothing in the universe with the power to separate us from God’s love.”

So why are we trying so hard to convince God that we are not good enough for Him?
He knows what we think, and He, frankly… does not agree!
Consider… even walking away from God will not stop His love for you…
How absolutely mindbendingly freeing is that knowledge!?
Every bit of shame we try to hide, every bit of guilt keeping us from speaking to God, every single thing we did that we cannot even speak out loud to ourselves and keeps us awake at night… God wipes it off the table with one action.
“as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”

Turn around… He is standing with arms open wide!
