How to avoid Evil

Green leaves with Proverbs 16:6 written as an overlay

Yesterday I was re-reading a passage that is chock-a-block full of wisdom. It is mind-bending in every sentence. I simply do not have enough bible highlighters and coloured pencils to make every unique concept in the first few sentences of Proverbs 16 stand out enough…

The Passage starts and ends with the basic and then adjusted concept: You have a Purpose and a Calling and whether God shows you where to go, or whether you choose your destination. God directs the steps of your journey.

(The rest is the details about do this, stay away from that, begin here, etc…)

But God, gracious as He always is, shared something new with me in Verse 6.

When you get to a point in your journey where things do not make sense, or you are overwhelmed, or might even be feeling lost… When we need to figure out how to stay on the path or get back on track… the answer is WorshipFully… Surrendered… Worship…

“You can avoid evil through surrendered worship and the fear of God, for the power of his faithful love removes sin’s guilt and grip over you.”
(Proverbs 16:6 TPT)

Now… I can go into the theological and dogmatic discussions about the depth and true nature of worship and especially the worship of the most high, but then I would lose the simplicity of the doors that open even in the most simplest form: Just singing it out. Just praying it out…

I Know that the saints in heaven cry out

“…Day and night they never stop saying: “’Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty,’ who was, and is, and is to come…
(Revelation 4:8 NIV)

So I am making the bold assumption that when I start to worship, the heavenly hosts also turn their attention onto me and join me in bringing Glory to God. Singing alone in the shower is one thing… but have you praised with 5,000 people going full tilt?

I believe worship is the same… its the difference between walking alone in the wilderness, and walking at the front of 5,000 warriors. The world becomes a different place. There is an inherent power that walks with you.

So… as I was contemplating the path that our Father is putting me on, I opened up my files to “God of the Impossible”  (by Gillaume and Rene Worship) the words becoming my prayer:

“Here I am again
Desperate for Your voice of truth to speak”

“God, here I am again
You alone can calm the waves and speak
Peace over my heart”

“God who speaks and storms obey
Let my heart respond that way
You are good
I trust in You”

God of the impossible
You will never let me go
You are good
You’re always good”

Be blessed!
