Because, it is time for for a change…

Still going through the writings of John, and was kinda getting stuck on the sin part, always coming back to the sin, and the redemption by Jesus and His actions.

So John wants to make this abundantly clear: Your sin and my sin have been removed. FOREVER!

“…I remind you, dear children: your sins have been permanently removed because of the power of his name…”
(1 John 2:12 TPT)

The sin we did, the sin we forgot about (”…But if we freely admit our sins when his light uncovers them, he will be faithful to forgive us every time. God is just to forgive us our sins because of Christ, and he will continue to cleanse us from all unrighteousness….” – 1 John 1:9 TPT)

… and even though we should strive not to, also the sin we will still do…

”…But if anyone does sin, we continually have a forgiving Redeemer who is face-to-face with the Father: Jesus Christ, the Righteous One…”
(1 John 2:1 TPT)

The only person who remembers it and reminds of it is the Devil, and we can freely ignore and resist him, because his focus is to distract you and, to discourage you, and to shift your focus away from your calling and make you feel unworthy and incapable.

However… If the Holy Spirit convicts you of a sin. PAY ATTENTION!

The Holy Spirit does not convict you because Jesus is unable to sort out your past or future, or because one of your sins slipped through during the whole process, and we just need to clean a few things up… no! The Holy Spirit convicts you because change is imminent!

The time has come where God wants to make a change in your life, and you are stuck because of something you need to sort out in your own life. Remember how arrogantly you spoke to so and so… There is something left there that we need to get rid of… Remember the time that you did this or that? Yup… that’s no good, we need to clean that up in your life. Or even, remember the time with so and so at the place… they need an apology to move forward in their Faith walk.

It is not a condemnation of sin. It is a reminder by the Spirit so that you can move forward and new things can develop!

Why is this important?

”…But the love of God will be perfected within the one who obeys God’s Word. We can be sure that we’ve truly come to live in intimacy with God, not just by saying, “I am intimate with God,” but by walking in the footsteps of Jesus…
(1 John 2:6 TPT)

We are either living in the light and moving closer to Him, constantly getting better at living our purpose, OR we are living in denial, living in more sin every day, missing our purpose, missing our calling, and slowly moving away from the light and the truth of the thing we were created for and supposed to be living for!

”…If we claim that we share life with him, but keep walking in the realm of darkness, we’re fooling ourselves and not living the truth…”
(1 John 1:6 TPT)

So examine your thoughts… is there something the Spirit is nudging you towards that needs your attention? And are you willing to bring it to light and have it cleaned up?
