God will do this, for He is Faithful to do what he says…

I was reading Jeremiah this morning, and it was a dark experience. God is Angry!

He speaks out against His people:

You were my bride but left for another man, must I go look for you? But you became a prostitute! Look at the land, is there a place you haven’t been ravished? You wait next to the road for the next wickedness, and when you are called out, you do not even blush!

And then…and then! You call on me, God, and ask why I am angry? and ‘Will I stay angry forever?’ (Jeremiah 3:1-6, paraphrased)

I was reading and re-reading and wondering what God is trying to tell me because this is so dead. It is dark, bleak with no hope… and all I can think is: This is the world now. Greedy for power and more power and more money and more influence… and we don’t even blush. It is like we have stepped over a threshold into a new normality.

But as I am praying about this, wondering how to ever turn back from this worldly attitude and feeling hope drain out of me by the second, a song switches over in my Spotify playlist in the background…

’Waymaker…Miracle worker… Promise keeper, Light in the darkness… My God. That is who you are…’

God guides me to another place, another time… to a community given over to sexual misconduct and prostitution: The city of Corinth.

A Morally Broken people, yet Paul says “I am always thanking God for you”!

And then goes on to share with the congregation how rich they are because of the complete and free, OPEN ACCESS they have to God’s Grace through Jesus Christ…!

He explains how they have a wealth of God Inspired words. Are developing an intimate knowledge of Christ, getting strengthened by every experience and growing in understanding, and most of not lacking in any spiritual gift!

What a way to break through… Sean, hold on to the Word, Proclaim His Name and use every spiritual gift you have access to.

“7 Now you have every spiritual gift you need as you eagerly wait for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.

8 He will keep you strong to the end so that you will be free from all blame on the day when our Lord Jesus Christ returns.

9 God will do this, for He is faithful to do what he says, and he has invited you into partnership with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”
(1 Corinthians 1:7-9)
