The extent of God’s Love.

Our group have all, at one time or another struggled… we have all uttered the words “Ek sukkel” …

I have shared with you about the work of the Ukrainian missionary with adoptions and abortions. How they made a deal with the clinic to lend them an ultrasound in exchange for an hour with anyone contemplating abortion.

I have also shared about another deal they made to get access to those that went ahead with abortions to help them through the trauma of their decision.

The thing that just keeps on scratching my brain… this is not weeks apart. The same person that was trying to convince you not to have a procedure is now the person helping you deal with your actions, a mere few hours after the fact.

How wide is God’s love… if people can do this, imagine what is God’s capacity?! It is as if God has already forgiven me while I’m still sinning, He is just interested in bringing me back.

It makes me rethink Romans 8:26, 27

It is where Paul speaks about how the Holy Spirit prays on our behalf. “… at times we don’t know how to pray, or know the best thing to ask for…”

I have always thought of this as moments when we run out of words, and surely it’s true… but I read it in a different light this morning:

v26: “And in a similar way, the Holy Spirit takes hold of us in our human frailty to empower us in our weakness. “

“But the Holy Spirit rises up within us to super-intercede on our behalf, pleading to God with emotional sighs too deep for words.”

v27: “because the Holy Spirit passionately pleads before God for us…”

Jesus did not ask me if I am ready to repent and return to God, and then went to the Cross. He went first, He opened the door, He made the way.

When Adam sinned. He left God’s presence. God’s words were: “where are you?”

One word: Ahyekah … where are you? The point in the Bible from where God the Father, Jesus our Christ, and the Holy Spirit has been actively working towards rebuilding the relationship.

I will never leave you nor forsake you… what a promise!!
