Focus like a magnifying glass

I love verses like Psalm 119:114

“…You’re my place of quiet retreat, and your wraparound presence becomes my shield as I wrap myself in your Word!”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119:114‬ ‭

It speaks of God’s ability to protect us in the harshest of times, under the fiercest attacks. Can you imagine it?

God, our Father, wrapping himself around us, keeping you safe inside, no matter what is headed your way, no matter the fierce and fiery storm raging around you. You are protected.

Did you, like me, also notice that there is a piece that God does, and a piece that I have to do? “…as I wrap myself in your word…”

That has a lot of implications… it means that there is tremendous power in the Word of God. If the Word of God can be my wraparound protection (like a fortress) and my Faith in God and His Faithfulness is my shield that protects me from the fiery arrows of the devil, but the Word is also my sword… I don’t just have to sit and wait out the trouble.

Can I also focus God’s word into an attack?

It sounds very militant, but bear with me for a second. The Natural world is a manifestation of Spiritual Truth. I would like to imagine it like this:

It is a lovely summer afternoon, the sun is on your face, the warmth is just pleasant although the power of the sun is so immense, it is beyond our capacity to entertain. But, I can take a magnifying glass and focus that sunlight onto a small space and it can cause quite a bit of damage.

I can do that with worship.

I can do that with prayer…

I can do that with the Word of God!

Is this not what happens when we follow Jesus’ instruction that said in Matthew 10:8?

“Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give…”

Is this not focussing the Power of God on a problem?

Either its true or it is not.

We believe in the Resurrection of Christ to save us… completely.

We believe in the Power imbedded in God’s Word that is enough to complete every thing it was set out for.

If those are true, then focussing our prayer and worship into battle will have astounding effects, and adding more swords to the fight strengthens our faith and our resolve to continue the battle when we get weary.

Test it. Test it today!

Find another to stand with you and pray into a specific problem until it is resolved. Not potshots… Battle! Unleash heaven and let God’s Kingdom come!
