Our Hearts Spill Over

“God, our hearts spill over with praise to you! We overflow with thanks, for your name is the “Near One.” All we want to talk about is your wonderful works!” – Psalms 75:1

A day or so ago, I asked a friend of mine about worship. A bit more of a complex question but one thing he mentioned, instantly got stuck in my brain…

He said that one morning Jesus asked him: “was there ever an encounter with Me where people didn’t change?”

This has been stuck in my mind, like a splinter that you keep on picking at… and I will tell you why.

In all things, I am supposed to bring Christ into a room… but nothing changes. I will pray for people to be healed and they die. I pray for dreams to be realised… and they die… heck… potted plants don’t stand a chance at this point in time!

But while thinking about this, God reminded me of something. At which point, in this day and age, will I stop fearing offense?

I am so sensitive about any other person’s rights and feelings that I do not bring Christ to the table, but rather leave Him at the door, or quickly put Him in the cupboard when certain people enter the room, or conversation turns to difficult topics.

I am not saying that I should not be what Paul suggests, a Greek to the Greeks and a Roman to the romans, but that first and foremost I must be the face of Christ. Right now, I climb into my car after work and Jesus is where I left Him in the morning, asking me: “and how was your day”.

If change needs to happen, I need to introduce Jesus to the meeting.

“God, our hearts spill over with praise to you! We overflow with thanks, for your name is the “Near One.” All we want to talk about is your wonderful works!”
