Finish Well What You Have Begun

Finish Well what you begun.

I was reading Jesus’ words this morning about good and bad fruit and was reminded about a story I heard:

Guy was sitting with his coffee in a little green coffee shop (😉) and his friend came and sat down and bumped him. This was a big guy, loved hunting and the outdoors, but recently hurt his shoulder so it was that, as he was just a bit unbalanced, and it was a big bump.

(Similarities to actual people, places and events are purely coincidental! 😉)

Off course, the excellent coffee spilled out,  all over the table, and because this was also a man of God, he said “sorry” but then asked if I knew, I mean, if his friend knew why the coffee spilled out?

Obviously… it’s because you, er.. HE bumped the table!

“No… it’s because there was coffee in the cup… if there was tea or water in the cup, that is what would have spilled out!”

Jesus said in Matthew 12, “The fruit defines the tree”

That is a very rich statement, because not only does the fruit says what kind of a tree it is… but the fruit also says how healthy this tree is.

My tree has taken a beating… some rough winds and some storms, and I think my fruits are quite bruised and maybe not suitable for market anymore…

But a kind and a gentle voice dragged me back to psalm 138 I read yesterday… the very last verse:

“…You keep every promise you’ve ever made to me! Since your love for me is constant and endless, I ask you, Lord, to finish every good thing that you’ve begun in me!”
(Psalms 138:8)

My little apple tree is in the hands of the master. I need to Focus on pushing out apples, not pears.
