Not a ‘New’ Command

I believe we are living in what the world calls “Interesting Times”

This has been a challenge for me.

Not only do you have to make decisions to protect your livelihood and your family, but all of a sudden, the way we do business is changing dramatically and certain business sectors have all but disappeared!

Literally planet-wide, we’ve had to adapt. Bronze age? Iron age? Industrial age? Geologically slow adaptation compared to the last 12 months the world has faced. And just as we think we are settling down, everything speeds up and we are going into overdrive!

It is an uncertain time… its an unsettling time… its an angry time.

And all around me people lose hope. I do too…

But God is good to me.

When I bow my head to tell God that I am afraid, my mind rushes from left to right, from point to point, from idea to idea. Like a child that is angry, and frustrated and inconsolable. I want Justice, and I want the playground to be fair. I want the other kids to leave my toys alone and stop breaking my sand castles.

When I can’t keep quiet to hear His voice, and when I can’t pray the truth into being, He puts me on His lap, opens His word, and lets me read my heart… written millennia ago, I read my prayer this morning:

” 161 – The powerful elite have persecuted me without a cause, but my heart trembles in awe because of your miracle-words.

162 – Your promises are the source of my bubbling joy; the revelation of your word thrills me like one who has discovered hidden treasure.

163 – I despise every lie and hate every falsehood, for I am passionate about keeping your precepts.

164 – I stop to praise you seven times a day, all because your ways are perfect!

165 – There is such a great peace and well-being that comes to the lovers of your word, and they will never be offended.

166 – Lord, I’m longing for more of your salvation, for I want to do what pleases you.

167 – My love for your ways is indescribable; in my innermost being I want to follow them perfectly!

168 – I will keep your instructions and follow your counsel; all my ways are an open book before you.”

(Psalms 119:161-168)
