False Teaching? (Titus 1:1-2)

I am starting to wonder why my bible study of the last few weeks (months?) has often led me to the issue of false teaching?

A few months ago, I watched Ravi Zacharias mention reading a new Christian Motivational book by one of the current prominent pastors in America, and that not once is our Salvation of Christ mentioned.

So this idea has been forming in my head about what is being taught in my church. How to test a message and a teaching?

One of the disciples asked Jesus: How should we pray? _(and I believe the Holy Spirit reminded me of this)_

*First the important thing:*

Our Father, *_hallowed_* be they name.

*YOUR KINGDOM* come, *YOUR WILL* be done

*Then us:*

– Give us today our daily bread

– Forgive us

– Save us from temptation

So it kinda stands to reason….

1. Does it bring glory to God?

2. Does it further God’s Kingdom?

There is nothing there about our comfort… just our care. The important stuff…

Paul modeled this life. After his Damascus road conversion, which struck him blind, he spent the next 30 years on his feet, teaching, preaching, getting arrested, getting shipwrecked, but had some rest in jail (where he caught up on his email and WhatsApp’s to the people he left in charge of churches and ministries ) a few times (I wonder if he complained to God about all the traveling?) until his final martyrdom in Rome… what a life.

I now started with another of his letters. This time to Titus, which he left on the island of Crete to, can you guess? Fight against false teaching INSIDE the church.

[The devil’s favorite tactic for the last 2000 years… he is not very creative, but he is consistent!]

Paul starts off with his intent: bring about *Faith* and share a knowledge of the *Truth* [of God] that agrees with godliness… i.e. what Christ has done for us according to God’s plan (v2)

Something that is easy to miss:

Paul mentions in v2 “…promised before time began…”

Isn’t it awesomely think that Christ was the plan from the beginning? That *_it wasn’t a response_* to how bad the world became??!?

It makes you read God’s actions through the Old Testament in a new light…! Preparation of times and teachings, and the placement of people. Lessons learnt and taught that all points to a single moment in time…

Seriously!!?! How great is our God?!
